Djibouti City – Hon. Mohamed Jibril Mohamed, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Djibouti, attended a high-level meeting held on Thursday at the Presidential Palace, where President Ismail Omar Guelleh outlined Djibouti’s new diplomatic directions in response to the rapid global geopolitical transformations.
During the meeting with all Djiboutian Ambassadors abroad, President Guelleh emphasized the need for a modern, pragmatic, and peace-oriented diplomacy that aligns with current global challenges such as climate change, economic instability, and shifting alliances.
He urged diplomats to maintain professional excellence, neutrality, and commitment to collective security and regional integration, while reaffirming Djibouti’s long-standing role as a mediator and advocate for peace in the Horn of Africa.
The event also honored H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, newly elected Chairman of the African Union Commission, who expressed gratitude to President Guelleh for his unwavering support throughout his election.
A special banquet followed the session, attended by senior government officials, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps, where President Guelleh paid tribute to Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, describing him as a dedicated statesman, humble leader, and true servant of the nation.
