Mohamed Jibril Mohamed, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Djibouti, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the 1447/2026 Hajj services and the closing event of the 1446 Hajj season held in Mogadishu.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Mohamed emphasized the remarkable progress achieved by the Somali Government in improving the efficiency and transparency of Hajj services, noting that Somalia’s success in organizing and managing the pilgrimage stands as a source of pride for the nation and the wider region.
He acknowledged the efforts made by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in reforming the Hajj system despite initial challenges and resistance from various stakeholders.
“When effective reforms are introduced, challenges are inevitable — but with determination and strong leadership, progress always follows,” he said.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of collaboration between religious scholars and government institutions to ensure that pilgrims are well-prepared and guided in performing their Hajj duties with ease and devotion.
He concluded by commending the Somali authorities for their dedication to public service, governance, and sustainable development, underscoring that regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing can further strengthen the quality of such essential services.
